Many AI ideas fail not because of the technology itself, but because their actual benefits, technical feasibility or data requirements are not realistically assessed until it is too late. This is precisely where this service comes in: it enables concrete proof-of-concepts and prototypes to be developed at an early stage of development in order to reduce risks and make well-informed investment decisions.

The service supports organisations in the rapid yet methodically sound implementation of initial functional AI solutions. The aim is to develop technological approaches under realistic conditions and to systematically assess their feasibility, benefits and scalability. This provides a robust basis for investment decisions before significant development or integration costs are incurred.

The focus is on the iterative development of specific AI components or complete systems tailored to defined use cases – ranging from perception and decision-making models, through robotics functions, to edge AI and data-driven optimisation approaches. The service combines research expertise with application-oriented development and consistently follows the ‘test before invest’ principle. The focus is not on finished end products, but on the early validation of benefits, feasibility and technical performance.

At the same time, the key foundations for future scaling are being laid, particularly with regard to system architecture, data requirements and integrability.

These include, in particular, industrial companies with digitalisation or automation projects, technology-oriented SMEs, start-ups with new AI-based products, and research and development teams seeking to validate their approaches under real-world conditions. The service is particularly relevant for stakeholders facing an investment decision and requiring a robust technical and economic basis.

Fee:

This service is offered as part of the EDIH-AICS 2.0 programme. The cost depends on the scope and complexity of the work and will be agreed on a case-by-case basis with the contact person. Thanks to funding, the service is provided at a reduced rate.
